Notes from Training Camp: First Things First

The man everyone has been waiting to see: 2nd overall pick in the 2012 draft,
QB Robert Griffin III (as if you didn't know)

In the heat of day 2 of Redskins training camp, Griffin delivered passes to our fleet of WR's, connected with the TE's, made clean hand-offs to the RB corps and scrambled for large gains along the edge when the line broke down. He was fast and dynamic, everything you've heard before. He was by no means perfect, but he was incredibly exciting to watch, both as a playmaker and a teammate who joked with his fellow players and took notes from the coaches between plays.

And he shared in the noisemaking as the team closed in on kickers Gano and Rackers while they made progressively longer attempts with increasing levels of distraction. Seriously, the team was about as close to the kickers as they could get without physically interfering with the attempts.

The coverage of Washington's new it athlete is reaching epic, and almost overwhelming, levels, but even a little overexposure can't temper the excitement Griffin brings to all DC sports fans.
